Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by utilizing new visualization and computational design technologies to create wonderful spaces for people to enjoy.

Yao Lin is a Project Architect with experience on a variety of projects including hospitality, master planning, mixed-use, higher education and cultural centers. Yao believes in giving back to the community by participating in school programs like ACE mentorship program. He has been a team lead for ACE for over 10 years. How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

My grandfather was very influential growing up and said I would be a great architect one day. I pursued that dream/vision from the time I could put two Lego blocks togethers

What do you do?

My role is to be a good steward of the design vision. That begins in the design phase with design documentation and coordination and continues through construction. I review work in field and answer questions to ensure the design intent is met

What excites you in the work you do?

Walking the site every day and seeing the manifestation of all that hard work in design documents, realized in physical form is surreal.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

My proudest accomplishment so far is working on this museum, which truly comes once in a lifetime. Getting my second licensure here in California while working on this project.
