TONI JONES

Bio:

The Great Designer Toni Jones, an Architectural Associate, has 3 years of experience in commercial and governmental design. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, she studied at The University of Technology Jamaica, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies. She later pursued a Master of Architecture from Syracuse University. Toni's commitment shines through her work, spearheading AIA's Emerging Professional Awards and volunteering with other organizations.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

A friend invited me to her first-year architecture studio, and that experience convinced me that architecture was my calling.

What do you do?

As an Architectural Associate, I drive team progress and project cohesion. Collaborating with project managers, I address project components to meet client needs and objectives effectively.

 

What excites you in the work you do?

I enjoy the team dynamic, communicating with consultants, and embracing diverse disciplines. Each project's uniqueness, shaped by clients, consultants, site, and parameters, makes it an exciting, multifaceted role.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Chairing the Emerging Professionals Awards for AIA Fort Lauderdale.

Featured Project Description:

Delray Beach's East Atlantic Ave. is a vibrant, walkable area for shopping and dining. The stakeholder’s main purpose is to improve the attractiveness and quality of life in the community through expansion and development with spaces like the 800 Block on West Atlantic Ave. Containers create a landmark, housing food, retail spaces, seating, and a stage. Noise concerns were addressed post-community meetings. The design aims to balance community needs and the client's dynamic vision.
