Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by many things mainly the impact that others are doing with the power that they have. The idea that we can continue to make a difference and by those that will be impacted by our actions and molding of the environment arounds us.

SHADIA JARAMILLO

Bio:

The Great Designer Shadia Jaramillo AIA is a project architect at Goodwyn Mills Cawood, with experience in a variety of project typologies, including commercial, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, and aviation. She is an active member in AIA Florida and believes that mentorship and support are fundamental parts of one’s personal and professional development. She uses her platform @shadia_architecture to create content for emerging professionals and educate the public about the value of architecture.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

During my senior year in high school, and also after watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I was inspired by how they transformed people’s lives and environments. I wanted to be able to influence the way people live, work, and play through design.

What do you do?

I am a licensed architect in the state of Florida currently working on aviation, healthcare, commercial and higher education projects. When I am not working in architecture, I am serving my community and the next generation of architects.

 

What excites you in the work you do?

I enjoy using my creativity and knowledge to propose innovative solutions. Architecture is more than designing buildings. It shapes how people live, work, and interact. It also addresses the social, economic, and environmental challenges in the world

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by many things mainly the impact that others are doing with the power that they have. The idea that we can continue to make a difference and by those that will be impacted by our actions and molding of the environment arounds us.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

My proudest professional achievement is getting my license and serving as a resource for emerging professionals. I moved to this country from Panama 10 years ago, and this is a confirmation of my success and hard work.

Featured Project Description:

This project is a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) facility for Southern Sky Aviation. The project covers more than 10 acres of new ramp area, an FBO terminal of 8,600 square feet, and over 73,000 square feet of hangar space. The FBO terminal offers various programming spaces, offices, pilot amenities, flight planning, line service traffic, and refreshment bar. The project aims to create an additional gateway for economic growth for the region, which has seen significant expansion in recent years.
