Who or what inspires you professionally?

People inspire me. It’s been proven that the quality of design is much higher when a diverse group of ideas and individuals are involved. Wonderful things happen when we listen to each other and only then can we design for everybody.

Bio:

I’m an Interior Designer at RDG with an understanding of higher-ed and healthcare environments. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from the University of Northern Iowa. My Top 5 Clifton Strengths are: Adaptability, Ideation, Woo, Empathy, Includer.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

Growing up with a background in 4-H and grandparents who volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, I was bound to do something with design. In college, I went on an architectural tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin in Wisconsin and I was hooked.

What do you do?

Each day is a challenge to ensure the safety of others while creating a beautiful space that positively impacts those interacting within the space as well as those on the outside. It's important to lead with sustainability in mind.

What excites you in the work you do?

I really enjoy the beginning phases of a project where concept and design are being created. Each concept or idea has its own uniqueness, and I enjoy working with a team in creating all the possibilities to find the best fit for our clients.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I had the opportunity to lead the interior design of Creighton University's new CL Werner Center. For only working in the industry for two years, it was a role I had to step in to. Although challenging at times, the project has become very rewarding.

The CL Werner Center serves the next generation of medical, nursing, pharmacy, and health science students at Creighton University. With a focus on inter-professional collaboration, distinction, and integration the design allows each program to have its own unique expression with an overarching look that is distinctive to Creighton. With a skywalk bridge connecting right into an existing building on campus, it is directly integrated to connect back to the idea of blending groups together.
