Who or what inspires you professionally?

My life experiences have fueled my passion for architecture. I aim to produce contextual designs that are indicative of a community’s identity, values, and history by connecting people and culture.

SACHA BRAGGS

Bio:

The Great Designer Sacha Braggs was raised in Dallas, Texas on values and service, which shaped her priorities in design. Sacha is a personable, creative thinker who designs to create nurturing, inclusive environments for self growth. She engages in a number of enrichment activities as she pursue a B. Architecture and m. Urban Studies and Art. Through internships, mentoring relationships, and academic study, Sacha continues to develop the skills necessary to design quality architecture as she enters her final year at the University of Miami.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I fondly remember times when I'd sit on my Pawpaw's lap, learning how to draw 3D figures. As a HUD Chief, he saw my potential to become a designer. I aspired to pursue architecture when I became aware of my own interests in visual arts and academia

What do you do?

I am entering my final year of undergraduate studies at the University of Miami with minors in Urban Studies, Art, and a certification in Historical Preservation. Most recently, I finished my internship with Ennead Architects’ e-lab.

 

What excites you in the work you do?

People’s interactions with the built environment fascinates me, and I believe it's our responsibility to meet resident needs, thus enriching the community. I seek to inspire civic involvement with urban design, adaptive reuse, and public space.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

My life experiences have fueled my passion for architecture. I aim to produce contextual designs that are indicative of a community’s identity, values, and history by connecting people and culture.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Under Ennead Architects’ e-lab, I had the opportunity to create a solicitation and facilitate CBO/NGO feedback for a prominent institution. I am honored I get to collaborate with cities and community partners in the early stages of my career.

Featured Project Description:

This small town located on the south side of Miami-Dade was pioneered on creating economic opportunities for local farmers and entrepreneurs. Today, South Miami is a low-middle class area lacking educational and transportation resources. The program converges schooling and transportation in the program by incorporating a career center for field concentrated studies, an outdoor book exchange, a skate park, and a bike/skate store.
