Who or what inspires you professionally?

Traveling extensively and meeting new people are an infinite source of inspiration.

Robert St. C Gaskin

Bio:

The Great architect, Robert Gaskin was born in Kingston Jamaica, spent his formative years in Trinidad where his father , Robert Sr, was a doctor. He lived in Scotland as a teen, where he graduated high-school. He certified as a commercial pilot in 1979 and graduated with a BA in Architecture from Pratt Institute in 1982. He built successful careers in both aviation and architecture, here in the US and the Caribbean. In 1997 he started his own full service firm here in N.Y., specializing in aviation architecture.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

Reading avidly since childhood, aviation and architect have always held a fascination for Robert. He first cer- tified as a commercial pilot but his father advised his to have a “Plan B”; “incase the flying thing didn’t work out”. Architecture was it.

What do you do?

Robert is the President and CEO of his own full service Architectural Firm and has over 39 years of experience as an architect. He lectures in aviation and architec- ture, both her and in Asia. He is an avid golfer and sailor.

What excites you in the work you do?

Each project is exciting but conceiving and seeing them through to fruition while working with be it, our staff or collaborating with other professionals to the, often beyond satisfaction of the client.

 

Who or what inspires you professionally?

Traveling extensively and meeting new people are an infinite source of inspiration.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Robert’s proudest accomplishment is assisting in mentoring young people. Introducing them to avi- ation and architecture and seeing some of them go on the get their licenses and become professionals in aviation or architecture.

Provide Full Design Services as Architect of Record for the, Preparation of Design, Construction Coordination, Inspection Services and Signoffs for the Terminal Roadway Canopy and Crosswalk Canopies..• Prepared full Contract Drawings and Technical Specifications. • Coordinated all inspections with Port Authority of NY & NJ

 

Featured Project Description:

External Canopy for American Airlines Terminal and part of a $16,200,000. Airport improvement project by American Airlines at JFK International Airport.. It should be noted that RCGA was nominated for a Design Award for the Design of the Canopy.
