Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am constantly inspired by architects who are pushing boundaries within the profession by producing work with a strong community focus. My professors have also had a large impact in my academic career by pushing me to become a bolder designer.

REBECCA CURRY

Bio:

The great designer, Rebecca Curry graduated Cum Laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and is currently pursuing her master’s in Architecture at North Carolina State University. She is concurrently working as a student intern at Toma Farren Architects and has a passion for using design as a vehicle for change.

 

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I have always felt the impact that the built environment can have on one’s life ever since a young age. My dad has been my biggest inspiration, pushing me to pursue this profession.

What do you do?

I am currently a graduate architecture student at North Carolina State University, while also interning for Toma Farren Architects.

What excites you in the work you do?

The people that I have the privilege of interacting with on a daily basis! I am so excited to enter the profession and have the opportunity to design spaces that can have a positive impact on our communities.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

My proudest accomplishment was receiving the Most Inspiring Student Project Award while studying abroad in Florence, Italy.

Featured Project Description:

Rural communities in the US are struggling with an on-going crisis in rural healthcare delivery. The Community Health Center aims to be a catalyst for connecting these unincorporated parts of rural communities, such as Rocky Point, to have equal access to medical services and community placemaking. The center provides dynamic spaces to facilitate interaction between community members promoting well-being through preventative care measures while addressing food insecurity and mental healthcare.
