I am always inspired by my younger colleagues, by their energy, enthusiasm and passion for what they bring to each project and to the profession generally.

MEGAN CARROLL

Bio:

Megan has designed and delivered a broad array of building types in both Australia and Ireland during her career. Most recently she has focused her interest and expertise in the Education and Workplace sectors. Megan couples her extensive project delivery experience, from stakeholder consultation through to hand-over, with a passionate commitment to the design process, process; ensuring that spaces and places emerge that inspire creativity, collaboration and connectivity.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I first knew that I wanted to study architecture when I was a teenager touring a university and saw an exhibition of student work – I couldn’t believe that there was a course that looked like so much fun

What do you do?

My role at involves leading a number of teams on multiple projects across various stages. While every day is different, they all require the same focus on collaboration with colleagues, clients, consultants and contractors to solve problems.

What excites you in the work you do? Who or what inspires you professionally?

I love working within a team and knowing that everyone is striving for the best possible outcome. When that collective energy is harnessed across the project team extraordinary work happens and may even appear effortless.

I am always inspired by my younger colleagues, by their energy, enthusiasm and passion for what they bring to each project and to the profession generally.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I am most proud of SEEK as this was the first large scale building that I have led and was a genuinely gratifying experience throughout.

Featured Project Description:

The new global headquarters of online employment marketplace SEEK single-mindedly places their people first, with a workplace embodying their unique culture and visually connecting the whole organisation. The ‘Contemporary Warehouse’ concept informed the design, driven by the client’s desire to create an atypical office building and its urban context. The building is designed to accommodate SEEK’s brief of flexible, ‘hackable’ large open plan workspace.
