Bio:

The Great designer, M. David Lee is the President and managing partner. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Harvard Graduate School of Design. He holds joint degrees in Architecture and Urban Design. He is a former Adjunct Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and has served on the faculties of the RISD and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Lee is a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects and is a past President of the Boston Society of Architects.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I discovered in middle school i wanted to be in a creative field, and architecture seemed like a way to do that and earn the professional living my parents expected. Imagine my surprise.

What do you do?

We take on architectural and urban design projects at all types and sizes.

What excites you in the work you do?

Every project represents an opportunity for learning and growth

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Receive a Presidential Design award for our work on the Southwest Corridor transit project.

Featured Project Description:

The Dewitt Community Center is a 22,000 s.f. mixed use facility that provides a variety of services and
venues for Lower Roxbury Residents. The new building commissioned by the Madison Park Community Development Corporation features a variety of classroom and meeting spaces including an internet cafe and facilities for after school care. The Center also houses MPDC’s management functions and tenant services. A richly landscaped area next to the Center is a balance of planted and paved areas.

Featured Project Description:

The John D. O’Bryant African American Institute at Northeastern University in Boston is an important center of academic, cultural and social life for students of color on campus and throughout Boston. The institute features state of the art facilities including classrooms and large assembly spaces, a computer lab, library and archival space for rare books and documents.
