He has given lavishly of his time helping in his church, his community and serving his profession and his achievements include, being elevated to the AIA College of Fellows, National Organization of Minority Architects Design Excellence Award, for the Tuskegee Municipal Complex, Tuskegee University Outstanding Faculty Award, and Mayor’s Award for Service to the Community.

MAJOR L. HOLLAND

Bio:

The great architect, Major L Holland received his bachelor of architecture from Howard University in 1964. After graduating, he worked for many prestigious firms and individuals including Lewis Fry in Washington D.C. and Paul Rudolph in New York. In 1968, Major returned to Tuskegee, Alabama to work on the Tuskegee chapel. At the same time, he took a position as associate professor in the school of architecture at Tuskegee University where he taught courses on architecture until 2004. In 1972, Major opened his own firm, Major L. Holland, Architect and Associates, PC, where he continues to work today. He was bestowed the 2009 Distinguished Architect Award, awarded to those whose professional excellence has brought distinction to the practice of architecture. Major L. Holland has been practicing as a licensed architect for 31 years. He has given lavishly of his time helping in his church, his community and serving his profession. His achievements include, being elevated to the AIA College of Fellows, National Organization of Minority Architects Design Excellence Award, for the Tuskegee Municipal Complex, Tuskegee University Outstanding Faculty Award, and Mayor’s Award for Service to the Community.
