Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by future designers. It is my goal to show young aspiring architects and creatives their potential and that there are no limits to what they can do

LIZ STANTON

Bio:

Since graduating from Kansas State in 2012, Liz has gained experience from a variety of fields within the building industry. Throughout, she has always had a passion for influencing the built environment. As an architect at Schemmer, Liz enjoys learning new things and refining her skills with help from other licensed professionals. She hopes to continue to shape the spaces and places around her in a positive way.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I first learned about architecture as a profession from my cousin who was doing a report for school, but I knew from an early age that it was the career for me from playing with Legos and drawing houses in section on my chalkboard..

What do you do?

I am a licensed architect who contributes to projects at various phases from production of construction documents to construction administration.

 

What excites you in the work you do?

I am excited to see projects come to fruition and the satisfaction of the people that occupy the spaces I had a hand in the design of. It is exciting to see the potential of the profession as we continue to contribute to thoughtful designs.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

My proudest professional accomplishment is successfully becoming a licensed professional. It has been a goal of mine from day one. It wasn't without challenges, but the journey was worth it!

Featured Project Description:

This project is a new facility to house services currently spread out over four locations. The consolidation improves efficiency and delivery of services. The facility will include space for outpatient mental health and substance use treatment services, CARE and IMPACT programs, outpatient youth and family Services, a 14-bed crisis care center and a 24-bed inpatient substance use treatment program. Careful consideration was paid to how the design of a space can contribute to the healing process.
