How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

As a teenager I was very interested in Interior Design. The transition to being a Furniture Specialist happened due to circumstance and I have never looked back. The furniture is an incredibly important part of the Interior of a space.

What do you do?

As a Furniture Specialist I assist the Designers, Architects and clients with suggesting the best furniture solution to meet their brief, leadtime and budget. I prepare quotes and provide technical information, loan samples and finish options.

What excites you in the work you do?

Walking thru a completed project after working on it for sometimes 2-3 years is very rewarding. Seeing the furniture in place, and how it impacts the Interior gives me real satisfaction. Working with International brands is also very exciting.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Supplying 3,500 stacking chairs to"CentrePiece" media centre at Melbourne Parks in 2021 was a real achievement. A lot of work went into the selection with NH Architects, and then engagement with Lend Lease to ensure they were ordered and delivered.

Hobart Airport underwent a massive upgrade and renovation designed by Hassell Architects. The Green Furniture Concept NOVA C timber modular seating system supplied by K5 Furniture was selected. The solution also incorporated the Acoustic trees which supplied illumination and a feature to the Interior. The dark timber and the organic layout was a nod to the nature and heritage of Tasmania. It was a complex project and has been featured internationally in Airport magazines and conventions.
