LINDSAY MITCHELL

Meyers + Associates Architecture

SAY IT LOUD - Ohio Exhibitor

Ohio Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am most inspired professionally by the women I see who keep climbing the ladder in the field of architecture. It made me realize that obtaining my license wasn’t the end goal, but just the stepping stone for my career.

LINDSAY MITCHELL

Bio:
The great architect, Lindsay Mitchell am a licensed architect currently employed at Meyers + Associates Architecture. I received both my B.S. in Architecture and Master of Architecture from The Ohio State University. Prior to returning to Columbus, I worked in Washington DC with a focus on higher education projects. Since 2016, I have worked on a variety of project types including hotels, radio/television studios, and hair salons among others.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
Beginning around the age of eight, I used to spend hours at the dining room table drawing elevations of houses. My inspiration came from the real estate section of the newspaper and I would flip through the pages until I found a house that I liked.

What do you do?
In addition to being a licensed architect, I am also a Document Lead at my office. I am responsible for the drawing set and making sure that the project is documented thoroughly, the information is correct, and the drawings are graphically legible.

What excites you in the work you do?
I am most excited about the construction detailing part of the design process. I have become known in my office for being very detailed oriented and I believe over the last few years I have developed this into one of my greatest strengths.

Who or what inspires you professionally?
I am most inspired professionally by the women I see who keep climbing the ladder in the field of architecture. It made me realize that obtaining my license wasn’t the end goal, but just the stepping stone for my career.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
My proudest professional accomplishment was receiving my architecture license in 2019. There was never a question in my mind as to whether I would pursue the licensing path and finally reaching my goal after so many years was incredible.
