Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by traveling and seeing how people from different cultures experience architectural and urban space.

LIBBY SLASKI

Bio:

Libby is a Designer and Visualizer driven to contribute to the creation of spaces that promote social equity through intentional and thoughtful architectural outcomes. She earned both her Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architectural Design and Urbanism from Notre Dame. Libby studied in Rome, Italy, before practicing in San Francisco and Los Angeles, California. Since moving back to Michigan, she's focused on commercial and educational projects in her community and the West Michigan area.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I loved building models as a child, always wanting to learn how complex items like cars or buildings are put together. That childhood curiosity, coupled with my passion for art and design motivated me to pursue architecture as a high school student.

What do you do?

I am a Designer and Visualizer at Pure Architects. Our purpose is to create spaces that uplift our community, positively impact our environment, and inspire people through inclusive, healthy, beautiful, and high-performing design outcomes.

 

What excites you in the work you do?

I'm passionate about sustainable, beautiful, and walkable experiences for everyone. I get excited to create long-lasting, contextually relevant projects.

I am inspired by traveling and seeing how people from different cultures experience architectural and urban space.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I'm proud to design inclusive spaces for my city and community. I am persistent in my goal for a more collaborative and equitable built environment.

Featured Project Description:

The Emory Arts & Culture Hub is a mixed-use development in one of Grand Rapid's most diverse neighborhoods. The building will serve as the headquarters of The Diatribe, a local non-profit that uses performing arts to empower students to share their stories. The 18,000 square-foot building will feature a venue for students and artists, retail space, and affordable apartment units. The Diatribe has recently reached its funding goal and plans to have the project completed in 2024.
