SAY IT LOUD - SOUTH CAROLINA Exhibitor
South Carolina Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

One day I would like to pay it back through teaching. And everyday I want to do more and try new things so that I can pass that along. I am also excited to see what my support could bring out in a student's creativity.

LATORIA VICK

Bio:

Born and raised in North Carolina, the Great Designer, Latoria Vick, is a proud graduate of North Carolina State University. There Latoria received a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture. Her interest in design started long before her college years through early explorations of literature. After graduation, Latoria accepted a position with LS3P's Charleston office and in 2021, South Carolina became her home. Since then, Latoria has been spending her time exploring and conquering new design challenges.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

In middle school I read a lot of books and I cam across one that detailed the designs of Frank Llyod Wright. After that introduction, my curiosity blossomed into the drive I have for design today.

What do you do?

Daily, my tasks range from space planning, detailing wall sections, and also preparing presentations for city design reviews. Also, I am the Emerging Professional Leader in my office and I help lead the younger staff and develop the office culture.

What excites you in the work you do?

The idea of "more" excites me. There is always another solution to a problem. A simple change in perspective, literally or metaphorically, could make all the difference in how you approach a design.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

One day I would like to pay it back through teaching. And everyday I want to do more and try new things so that I can pass that along. I am also excited to see what my support could bring out in a student's creativity.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I am most proud of my opportunity to lead within my firm. It has taught me how to navigate the workplace and how to build inter-personal relationships. Through this, I have been pushed outside of my comfort zone and have gown a lot.
