How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I grew up in L.A. and Tucson and my dad took us on amazing city tours and road trips all over California and Arizona. When I was 16, I went to Chicago with my mom. As I experienced the magnitude of the architecture, I knew I wanted to be a designer.

What do you do?

In addition to designing residential and boutique commercial projects, I mentor and nurture my colleagues while fostering a dynamic culture of collaboration with clients, builders, interior designers, landscape architects and other partners.

What excites you in the work you do?

I’m always excited by my clients’ unique stories and their land. Whether I’m designing a new home or a renovation, I’m honored to have the opportunity to create a profound and beautiful connection between my clients and their natural environment.

June 2016

Role in Featured Project:

Designer and Project Manager

Featured Project Description:

While the clients loved the look of their mid-century home and the way it was situated on a hill overlooking a quiet lake, they were challenged by the outdated interior layout and the lack of a strong connection to the outdoors. Project goals for this extensive renovation project included preserving the home’s mid-century character while updating it to reflect the clients’ modern lifestyle and creating a dynamic indoor-outdoor connection to make the most of the beautiful lakefront site.

Featured Project Completion Date:

August 2019

Featured Project Description:

The owners envisioned a discreet modern home that was knitted to the landscape, creating a single level living experience with an open, communal family gathering space for their grown children and grandchildren. Located on the western edge of a large resort lake, the sloping, wooded lakefront site is adjacent to a public marina and park, thus requiring special attention to visual and acoustic privacy. The design was realized with rigorous adherence DNR guidelines and local zoning requirements.
