KENNETH EDWIN CASEY

Bio:
The great architect, Born in Detroit MI. and raised in Chicago IL. Kenneth was active in the profession, Kenneth E. Casey is an Illinois licensed architect who has served in leadership roles with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and the American Institute of Architects on both the state and national levels.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
Upon moving to Chicago in 1966 he fell in love with the skyline.

What do you do?
Everything. Traveling, Reading, Cooking, Photography, Tennis, Golf and a musician (rock guitar). Loved writing and serious jazz enthusiast. Life long Trekkie.

What excites you in the work you do?
He loved mentoring and empowering the younger generation to be successful in the field of architecture.

Who or what inspires you professionally?
Being able to make a difference for his fellow colleagues.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
Attaining his license and starting Kasidesigns in 1998

Featured Project Description:
This new 40,000 sq ft single story masonry building includes a three truck apparatus bay and sleeping pods for eight firefighters and two officers. Completed at $3.2 mil, the unique design features include a two story atrium which contains a multi-purpose space used for community meetings and regional firefighter training seminars. Other features include a private firefighter day room, full service chef’s kitchen, a full weightlifting and workout area and six private bathrooms.
