KEITH A TAMURA

Bio:

The great designer, Keith Tamura has been practicing architecture for 38 years in positions ranging from Principal to Senior Design Architect. He is currently working at BRAZENarchitecture, a firm created for sustainable projects in neighborhoods, and public and commercial buildings. He has managed design and construction of building and planning projects nationally and internationally ranging from $100,000 to $400,000,000.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

After receiving an Engineering degree, I was able to meet people in the architecture profession. The meld of the creative with the technical was very attractive to me, so I decided to get an Architectural degree.

What do you do?

Project Manager and Advocate for Neighborhoods

What excites you in the work you do?

The opportunity to employ all the tools we acquire while practicing architecture in the pursuit of helping all the people impacted by the current inequities in our economic system is the BEST way to “pay it forward”.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Our firm won the Southern Nevada Homelessness Continuum of Care CHAMP award. Being recognized by the people who actually DO community work really reinforces our joy in making an impact with the increasingly dire needs of the housing challenged.

The Workshop began in 2020, continuing throughout the coming year. City of Las Vegas Staff and a neighborhood non-profit are collaborating with BRAZENarchitecture to learn more about the neighborhood needs.
