Florida Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

Travel inspires me professionally. I love traveling to large cities and abroad to see the design challenges and solutions architects have encountered. Whether is it restoring a 200-year-old building or designing a new 100 story high rise.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I decided in elementary school that I wanted to be an architect. I was hooked on the built form and developed a love for drawing buildings, elevations and plans. I may have drawn a floor plan for every Care Bear and Strawberry Shortcake doll I owned.

What do you do?

I am the President and Architectural Principal of a multi-disciplined, 40-person Architecture and Interior Design firm in Jacksonville, FL.

What excites you in the work you do?

Teaching and watching the next generation of Architects grow. I grew up in the era of no internet and drawing most things by hand. I am in awe of the resources and capabilities of what the young architects can do these days.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

Travel inspires me professionally. I love traveling to large cities and abroad to see the design challenges and solutions architects have encountered. Whether is it restoring a 200-year-old building or designing a new 100 story high rise.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

At the bottom of the 2009 recession, I looked at the 3 talented people left standing beside me, and said “now what?” The design/construction market frozen, we decided to start an architecture and interior design firm.
