SAY IT LOUD - Tennessee  Exhibitor

Tennessee Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

My husband inspires me. He is always pushing himself to be better, and then pushes me to do the same. Complacency is not in his vocabulary. Complacency has no place in my professional vocabulary either. I am inspired to push to do better.

Bio:

Joyce Selina Love is the founder and co-owner of the architecture firm, Design Love Studio. She has Bachelor’s Degrees in Architecture and in Interior Architecture from Auburn University, as well as a Master's Degree in Architecture from the University of Memphis. As a licensed architect with 20 years of experience in a variety of project types, she encourages the next generation of designers as an Adjunct Professor. She also volunteers in several local community and professional organizations.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I first learned about architecture from my father. I grew up watching him working on home design projects after he came home working at an Engineering firm. I saw the drafting table, mylar, Staedtler pens, electric eraser. I was hooked very early on.

What do you do?

I am an Architect that looks for opportunities to share and use my skills and my experiences in ways that will promote the profession in our communities through relationships with educators, developers, CDCs, non-profits & most importantly, people.

What excites you in the work you do?

To be able to be a part of a profession that affects the everyday lives of every person on this earth and to know that I can do GOOD, promote what is GOOD, create something GOOD, for the purpose of others. That’s humbling, a very powerful feeling.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

My husband inspires me. He is always pushing himself to be better, and then pushes me to do the same. Complacency is not in his vocabulary. Complacency has no place in my professional vocabulary either. I am inspired to push to do better.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Passing the last of my Architecture Registration Exams and completing that last requirement for me to obtain licensure is my proudest accomplishment. That is the door that has, that is, and that will always be the basis of all future achievements.
