How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
Growing up in Maryland, there wasn’t much archi- tectural excitement around. My parents weren’t creatives so I wasn’t exposed to much architec- ture, but I enjoyed sketching. My dad signed me up for a architecture summer camp at UMD and I feel in love.
What do you do?
I am an architect with a proficient technical skill-set. I take pride in the ability to identify and solve problems, embrace design challenges, and effectively communicate an idea. I also teach Real-Estate Development and Construction Man- agement.

What excites you in the work you do?
I believe architecture is the most evident manifes- tation of power. Something black people have not controlled for generations. So I find the idea of having the ability and soon license to build is the most professionally liberating feeling to have.
