Who or what inspires you professionally?

Discovering new ways that people connect with their surroundings always inspires me. I love travelling, walking around and sitting somewhere to watch how people might interact. What draws people to a space and why are places loved?

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

One of my earliest memories is sitting at the window and watching from above people in the courtyard of the apartment complex I lived in. For as long as I can remember, being aware of how people inhabit spaces has always been fascinating to me.

What do you do?

I am a Partner at MJMA Architecture & Design. I translate the ambitions of my clients into architecture and public spaces that help build healthy, inclusive and resilient communities.

What excites you in the work you do?

The built environment has a profound influence on the quality of our lives. I am privileged to design public projects which strive to bring beauty and purpose to our shared spaces. Seeing people enjoy these places inspires me to design more.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I designed the change rooms for Canada’s first all-universal change room aquatic facility. Inspired by public feedback about security, public and private spaces were reconfigured for universal access to personal change spaces within a public setting.
