Being part of the process of creating environments and buildings with purpose, meaning and value. Almost all of my career has been devoted to architecture in the public sector.

Bio:
As a Senior Architect at Lionakis, Jaret Uyeda brings over 15 years of experience master planning and designing facilities for public agencies throughout California. His experience ranges from large building replacements and improvements to practical replacement of windows at El Segundo City Hall, demonstrating his broad skills at modernization. Jaret brings the ability to prioritize goals to make the most of any project, while simultaneously ensuring the success of all projects.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I am a second-generation architect. My father was the origination of my interest in architecture. As architects there were generational differences in the ideas of how and why we design the world around us.

What excites you in the work you do?
Seeing or creating something new. New and different challenges.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
The profession gravitates towards individuals gaining expertise or mastery of very narrow bands of knowledge. I’ve tried to be well rounded, understanding the breadth that it takes to design and construct the built environment.

Featured Project Description:
Currently in design, the Blythe Border Protection Station will replace the existing Blythe California Department of Food and Agriculture (CFDA) inspection station on Interstate 10 West with a new facility to improve traffic operations. In addition to a vehicle inspection building and nine inspection booths, the scope includes a private vehicle inspection canopy and associated vehicle lanes, a truck pre-inspection canopy over four truck lanes, and commercial truck lanes.
