Bio:

The Great Designer Jackie Gonzalez Touzet is the Founding Principal of Touzet Studio. Touzet Studio is an award-winning architecture and interiors studio that designs and build innovative architecture in South Florida and the Caribbean for some of the leading design and tech clients in the world. Jackie was awarded the Silver Medal Award, Architect of the Year, and Firm of the Year by AIA Miami. Jackie is a frequent lecturer at UM, FIU, and a trustee at FAU. She has served as Univ. Miami MRED +U Resiliency Chair.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I learned about architecture as a profession when I was 18. I took an aptitude test in community college. My results were: architect, commercial artist, or advertising. Because I love history & art, I took an architecture history class, I was hooked!

What excites you in the work you do?

I love creating beautiful Spaces and crafting thoughtful architecture that reflects the culture, climate, and history of a place. I love architecture that tells stories. I believe in designing a positive future.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Winning the AIA Miami Silver Medal for Design, which is the highest honor they offer for Design. As well as be awarded "Architect of the Year" by AIA Miami in 2015 and Firm of the Year in 2021 by AIA Miami.

Featured Project Description:

Grove Central is a mixed-use, multi-modal transit project that seeks to bring more diverse mix affordable types of housing to one of the oldest and most desirable communities in the Coconut Grove area of Miami. The project includes a 23-story residential tower that will offer market-rate workforce housing as well as several floors of co-living units. The project also includes 120,000 sf of retail, as well as required parking. This project is a resilient reimagining of Miami's future transit.
