Minnesota Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

Genuine people that tell stories from the heart amaze me, and when you combine an amazing conversation with a great song playing in your headphones, with a beautiful view as you walk through a space, there is a magic that gets my imagination going.

HEATHER NOVAK-PETERSON

Bio:

The Great designer, Heather Novak-Peterson grew up drawing under her architectural parents’ drafting tables, Heather Novak-Peterson cultivated a devoted love for art and architecture and how they can react to each other to create entire environments. Known for her enthusiasm and love for collaborating with people to visually articulate ideas, Heather’s unique point of view and endless imagination is contagious, with a design perspective that makes ideas into center pieces that turn locations into landmarks.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I grew up in a family of architects that communicated at dinner by sketching on napkins with felt tip pens to explain their thoughts, and wandering around project sites taking pictures with my Dad’s camera he left under the front seat of his car.

What do you do?

I am a designer that creates branded environments, custom finishes and large scale art installations for commercial and residential building projects. A visual storyteller that gives space a unique personality for people to live, work and play in.

What excites you in the work you do?

I love the opportunity to create and collaborate with all different kinds of people to tell their stories in the built environment. The design challenge of weaving art and architecture is a constant inspiration that truly gets me excited every day.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I think my proudest achievement is in the works right now as a professional designer, woman, and mother starting my own design firm. It is liberating, terrifying and so exciting, and I have big dreams in works that I am very motivated to accomplish.
