Who or what inspires you professionally?

The creation of healing environments which improve the healing experience inspires me. I am fascinated by how a minor design detail can improve users’ experience, especially in a healthcare setting.

Bio:

An architectural designer at LS3P, I graduated from North Carolina State University with a Master of Architecture and a certificate in Energy and Technology. I am from Iran where I obtained my undergraduate and first master’s degree in architecture. I moved to the US to continue my studies in the profession. During graduate school, I worked as an intern and teaching assistant. Upon graduation, I began full time work in the middle of a global pandemic.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

Growing up, I was always fascinated by the rich architecture in Persian history and monuments. In college, I met students who were studying the built environment and chose major in architecture so that I could impact people’s living experiences.

What do you do?

I am an emerging professional working in the field of architecture at LS3P. I joined this firm as an intern when I was a graduate student and continued working with them full time on the healthcare team.

What excites you in the work you do?

As a designer in healthcare architecture, one of the most exciting parts of my job is to create spaces that facilitate people’s healing process. This motivates me to explore new ways to improve people’s experience of the built environment.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I am proud of my whole journey that made me who I am. Immigrating, studying in a foreign language, and living far from family has been challenging and has opened opportunities. Today, I design spaces that support patients and their healing process.
