DIANA VASQUEZ

Bio:

The great designer, Diana Vasquez is a Design Director for architecture, a graphic artist, and research leader in Gensler’s Phoenix office. Throughout her career she studied architecture, toy design and graphic design which informs her ability to deliver a variety of projects ranging from dynamic branding, interior, and retail spaces, to large-scale master planning for corporate campuses and mixed-used developments. Her unique style artfully balances her strong analytical nature with her unbounded imagination.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I was part of the drafting elective in high school, and my teacher taught me about architecture and how to think about design. I realized that I enjoyed the drafting process, and the organized art of blueprints more than abstract paintings.

What do you do?

As a Design Director I lead teams to deliver projects from master plans all the way to interiors. I utilize several digital tools and research to create appropriate responses, while also mentoring our team to develop their skills and passions.

What excites you in the work you do?

Mentorship and seeing growth of designers. Digital tools, discovering new technologies to deliver projects. Research, telling a comprehensive story. Designing cities, buildings, spaces, objects and graphics that inspire and evoke an emotion.
