DAVIELLE PHILLIPS

Bio:

Davielle Phillips was born and raised on the southside of Chicago. His experience in Chicago led to a passion for architecture and design and his ability to utilize them as a tool to give back to his community. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Design in 2016, he decided to get both a Master of Architecture and a Master of Business Administration in 2019, with a goal of using architecture and business to make his community better.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

While growing up on the Southside of Chicago and traveling around the city, I would notice that other neighborhoods looked and felt completely different than mine; I wanted my community to be as beautiful as others. This was in 6th grade.

What do you do?

I have a passion for giving back. I currently sit on a few executive boards for community non-profits and I get to work on a variety of projects from community and educational to commercial and residential.

What excites you in the work you do?

I'm living my dream! I get to mix architecture and business with an opportunity to teach and learn. I also enjoy the people I work with and that I get to support them with their dreams and that they support me with mine.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I'm inspired by creating and having the opportunity to make people's lives better. Anything that has a human focus on betterment inspires me and pushes me to get better every day.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I'm extremely proud of being able to successfully interview for projects and for being a person who the community trusts to call for work and insight. I have also brought a few projects into the office since graduating with my Masters.
