CANDICE NG

Bio:

Candice Ng began her architectural studies in Malaysia in 2003, moved to Melbourne in 2005 and graduated with a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Melbourne in 2009. She began her professional career in 2010 at Plus Architecture and was appointed Associate in 2015 and promoted to Senior Associate in 2017. Her excellent track record as a project architect is derived from her exceptional attention to detail, strong project management approach and proven organisational skills.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I was 19 when I first considered architecture as a possible future profession. It piqued my interest as one of the career options given to me as it allowed creativity within a practical approach.

What do you do?

I am a senior associate and project architect at Plus Architecture. I design spaces for people to live, work and play in. I enjoy putting complex building puzzles together and seeing it come to life.

What excites you in the work you do?

Making a difference in our built environment. Seeing your work come to life, existing in our built environment as something tangible and present is one of the few pleasures that not many people can claim.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

So many people and so many things. Currently, my family are my main source of inspiration. I hope to have a hand in building a sustainable future for my two little ones.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Becoming a registered architect under three years working professionally, being appointed an associate two years after and then promoted to a Senior Associate. I never expected to achieve a leadership position in a foreign country with my background.

Candice has been involved since the conception of the design, working closely with experts and key stakeholders to ensure that the design stayed true to its values, cementing the first carbon neutral residential project at Plus Architecture.

Featured Project Description:

The overall design references the surrounding rhythm and scale of typical Brunswick architecture, creating a sense of familiarity whilst the street wall and canopy reminiscent of an industrial tilt up garage door acts as a connection between its industrial past and present. A highly considered design that benefit those who live there and the surrounding community, Elements is Plus Architecture’s first carbon neutral residential project with sustainability at the forefront of its design ethos.
