ASHLIE BIRD

WDG Architecture

SAY IT LOUD - TEXAS Exhibitor
Texas Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

Everyday People. We live in an age where our individual stories are hyperspecific but collectively relatable and that expression of connectivity excites me and gives me hope.

ASHLIE BIRD

Bio:

The great architect, Ashlie Bird attended Howard University where she cheered on the Bison from the sidelines and explored all the city had to offer - museums, restaurants, festivals, and anything else she could find. After surviving Architecture school, Bird returned to Texas and to work in the multifamily sector. When she's not managing BIM models or doing CA, Ashlie enjoys a multicultural book club, filling up her passport, and running around Dallas.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

My dad suggested I take a drafting class in HS and it quickly became my favorite. What I loved most was the idea that the built environment is constantly growing and changing depending on the user; 1 design will 8 billion different perspectives.

What do you do?

In short, I build and maintain BIM models in an effort to produce well coordinated drawings. With this firsthand knowledge of the project I also work closely with the GC during to construction.

What excites you in the work you do?

Creating spaces for people to call their own.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

Everyday People. We live in an age where our individual stories are hyperspecific but collectively relatable and that expression of connectivity excites me and gives me hope.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Getting licensed! There's such a small number of black women architects and I am so excited to help grow that number.
