SAY IT LOUD - TEXAS Exhibitor
Texas Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

The magic that can happen (choreographed or not) at that interface of people with constructed elements, with nature, and with one another.

ASHLEY HEEREN

Bio:

The great designer, Ashley loves the unique synergy that occurs between humans and their environment. She believes that architecture should celebrate and augment the potential relationships and transformations that occur between people and places within diverse communities and ecosystems. Having graduated from Yale University and Harvard Graduate School of Design, Ashley is an explorer at heart. It’s this adventurous spirit that drives her strong work ethic and her love for place.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

II learned about architecture once I was already in college. I took an introductory class and was hooked immediately. The notion that creative expression could shape our built environment—and in doing so also improve aspects of society—was thrilling.

What do you do?

I am an Associate at Lake|Flato Architects, and I focus on architectural projects in our Urban Development studio. Based in Austin, I work on projects across a variety of scales and user groups that connect the public and private realms

What excites you in the work you do?

I love that our Development work engages a wide range of typologies. I am excited by the common thread that in all these projects there is an aspiration to make new connections and perhaps spark new awareness between people and their environments..

Who or what inspires you professionally?

The magic that can happen (choreographed or not) at that interface of people with constructed elements, with nature, and with one another.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Seeing diverse groups of people use an environment that I had a hand in designing and bringing into reality!
