Who or what inspires you professionally?

The people who speak truth to power to make a difference, to make change - even when it is slow, and hard, and risky. The hope that I can be a part of making the design disciplines more diverse, inclusive, and impactful.

AREZOO ISSAPOUR

Bio:

The great designer, Arezoo lssapour has a background in architecture from Iran and I graduated with a master’s degree in architecture from the city College of New York and while in school I become a studio TA. I have more than three years of functional experience in plan development and construction document for multi-family residential and commercial retail in the five boroughs. I’ve been trying to bring my passion and education into a pragmatical approach. I hope that I can apply my knowledge to make the world a better place.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

In high school, when I was considering different fields of study for college, I thought that architecture was the closest to my passion. I appreciated the use of lines, spaces and composition of colors to manifest surroundings as I imagined them.

What do you do?

I work as a freelance architect with an engineering-architecture firm also getting ready to enrol for the ARE exam.  

What excites you in the work you do?

Bringing all the needs of clients, the design rules and my creativity to design and response a problem makes me happy and excited.  

Who or what inspires you professionally?

As I’m going forward in architecture thinking of nature inspires me and I found nature as a pure and unique source to response my questions and design issues.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Being a studio TA in the master program was an excellent experience during my academic period, also having hands-on experiences prior to my master program and during it makes me a strong foundation as a freshly graduated.

Featured Project Description:

The Respiratory Center of El Chorrillo is a health facility that focuses on the education and healing of residents suffering with respiratory conditions. Providing a learning and health center for the community, the building provides elements that provide a gathering space for the neighborhood while also providing quality air control.
