Who or what inspires you professionally?
I am inspired by my wife. My wife is a creative musician and her creativity has inspired me our entire marriage. I am also inspired by spaces that create beauty and serenity at the human scale, such as some Main Streets in rural towns.
Andre Ballard is an Architect and Construction Manager, in Northwest, Ohio, near Toledo. For the past 15 years he has led the architectural firm Ballard Architectural Studio. He is a B-ARCH degree from Hampton University and a M-ARCH degree from Miami University. He is also a part-time educator of both architecture and construction management. He is Adjunct Faculty at BGSU in Ohio. Andre’s wife is Sherri Ballard and they have three children. They are both Hampton University graduates.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
My father introduced me to the idea of becoming an architect, when he saw me designing cars in a sketch book, when I was 10 years old. I decided to become an architect two years later at the age of 12 and moved forward from there.
