AMELIA BRACKMANN

Overland Partners

SAY IT LOUD - TEXAS Exhibitor
Texas Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

As a teenager during the recession, professionals in the architecture and construction industries attempted to dissuade me from pursuing architecture which only sharpened my focus. Today I am inspired by my clients dreams and my amazing co-workers.

AMELIA BRACKMANN

Bio:

The great designerAmelia Brackmann is an architect at Overland Partners where she enjoys supporting her client’s missions and promoting well-being through architecture. She is interested in how architecture reacts to context, formulating a response to existing physical and social conditions in a way that strengthens people and place. When not working on projects, she co-directs Overland’s Art Program helping to promote local artists and stimulate creative thinking in the studio.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

As a military child, I have lived in many places. Over the years, those experiences shaped my opinions of the houses we lived in. Obsessively drawing houses as a child evolved into a passion for the built environment and its impact as an adult.

What do you do?

As a project architect and project manager, my work focuses primarily on mission-driven projects. I mentor Overland’s young professionals seeking licensure and volunteer outside the office through Big Brothers Big Sisters and Blueprint Ministries.

What excites you in the work you do?

In and out of the office I love coming alongside organizations to help them identify how to multiply their mission. Creating places for positive impact fuels and pushes me to leverage myself and sharpen my skills.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I am proud of Real Life Church and our continued relationship. The Austin campus was my first project as a designer at Overland and I’ve grown alongside them. Today I am helping to advance their mission in Corpus Christi as project manager.
