What excites you in the work you do?

The best part is how the work can transform lives. Some of the simplest things can make profound differences to people. The subtleties and interplay of space and feeling beyond the mere visual. Ask tomorrow and it may be something else!

ALLEN KONG

Bio:

Allen Kong is the Director of his own architectural firm in Melbourne, Australia. Allen’s Chinese, Palawa, Scottish, & English ancestry has influenced his conceptual framework for his holistic view of architecture. the inalienable understanding of the living spirit relationship & reliance between all. His designs are grounded in a fundamental evidence basis including what is known about users’ psychological responses to the built environment & the larger issue of environmental sustainability.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

At an early age I realised the importance of a proper environment which can both nurture, support and protect. Architecture in part combines my interests of caring for people, culture, rituals, and environments.

What do you do?

I have been very fortunate in having my own architectural practice for more than 30 years

What excites you in the work you do?

The best part is how the work can transform lives. Some of the simplest things can make profound differences to people. The subtleties and interplay of space and feeling beyond the mere visual. Ask tomorrow and it may be something else!
